We would like to thank the Mozartverein 1829 e.V. and the sponsors for this fantastic funding opportunity for our students!

In 2024, the Mozart society Mozartverein 1829 Nürnberg e. V. once again organised a chamber music competition for students of the Nuremberg University of Music.

The competition was open to instrumental chamber music ensembles from trio to octet (no Vocal studies or jazz ensembles). The ensembles were free to choose their own programme. The programme had to include at least two works, one of which should be from the 18th century (wind ensembles excluded), preferably with a work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

12 ensembles applied, 10 of which finally took part in the auditions on 27 January 2024.

The jury, consisting of Prof Felix Löffler (clarinet, University of Mainz), Prof Herwig Zack (violin, Nuremberg University of Music Würzburg), Evgenia Rubinova (piano, Leopold College Augsburg), Uwe Mitsching (Nürnberger Nachrichten), Prof Dorian Keilhack (jury chairman, Landeskonservatorium Innsbruck/Mozarteum Salzburg, Innsbruck department) did not make the decision easy. The 3rd prize was split to equal results and the originally planned prize money of € 1,000 euros (Mozartverein) was increased by a further € 1,000 euros from the Hofmann Hagemann Hildesheimer Foundation.
