Information for students

  • In collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and numerous private sponsors, the University of Music would like to enable you to focus on your studies and succeed with the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship.

The scholarship is intended to contribute towards your living expenses. Ideally, it should allow you to focus on your studies and finance a stay abroad, for example.

    • Both students and applicants are eligible to apply.
    • You have achieved above-average performance at school, university or in your professional life.
    • You are involved in voluntary work and social, academic or political activities.
    • You take on responsibilities within religious communities, associations or clubs.
    • Your personal or family circumstances can also be taken into account.
    • Initially, scholarship holders receive a monthly scholarship of €300 for one year.
    • This is not offset against BAföG benefits.
    • Students who are already receiving merit-based funding from another institution will not be awarded the Deutschlandstipendium. However, exceptions are possible under certain conditions.
    • There is no legal entitlement to the scholarship.
    • Scholarships are initially awarded for one year (two semesters).
    • To continue receiving the scholarship, you must reapply in the next round of applications.
    • The maximum funding period depends on the standard length of the course.
  • From 8 June to 8 July 2025 (until 23.59), applications for a scholarship for the 2025/26 academic year can be submitted via the application portal provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

    Important notes:

    • Please note that only complete applications submitted by the deadline can be considered. Applications and documents submitted by post, email or fax will not be accepted.
    • All documents must be attached in PDF format. Documents in other formats cannot be opened during the evaluation process and will therefore not be considered. All supporting documents must be submitted electronically via the online form only (paper documents will not be accepted).
    • Please label the uploaded files with a brief description of their contents and your surname (e.g. 'CV_Bloggs'), to ensure that all documents can be clearly assigned to you.

  • Yes, a scholarship will not be awarded if the student receives talent- and performance-based material support. However, this does not apply if the amount of funding received per semester is less than a monthly average of 30 euros.

  • Nuremberg University of Music accepts online applications and checks that they fulfil the formal requirements. All applications are then sent to various reviewers for assessment and evaluation.

The reviewers examine the applications and make a recommendation to the university management regarding which applicants should be awarded a scholarship. Based on these recommendations, the university management makes the final decision on awarding the scholarships. Applicants will be informed of the results by email.

Selection interviews do not take place.

The selection criteria for a Deutschlandstipendium are based on those set out in the Scholarship Programme Act and Scholarship Programme Ordinance.

Decisions on Germany Scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year are expected to be made at the end of July 2025. If you are selected for funding, you will receive a letter in September informing you of this.
