News Transverse flute workshop '50plus' brings generations together

On Saturday, 15 November, a special artistic and educational flute event took place at the university, directed by Prof. Marcos Fregnani and Corina Nastoll, and featuring students Elisabeth Schmäing, Valentina Mondini, Chun Wang, and Jan Kramer.

Amateur flautists aged 50 and over were invited to spend a day learning from and with each other, and sharing the joy of making music together.

Under the guidance of the students, the group began with an invigorating body warm-up to enhance perception, followed by a creative sound painting activity using instruments. The participants were then invited to take part in individual and chamber music coaching sessions in four different rooms. In turn, the students had the opportunity to gain experience in teaching older adults.

After everyone had enjoyed homemade treats during the lunch break, an intensive rehearsal as a 15-piece flute orchestra followed. This included the second and third movements of Mozart's Concerto in G major KV 313 for Flute and Orchestra, arranged by Raphaëlle Zaneboni. The absolute highlight of the rehearsal was the presence of the Munich-based flutist and composer herself, who led the rehearsal with great commitment and inspiration, infecting all those present with her passion for flute ensemble playing.

At the end of the workshop day, several participants from the 50+ group presented an impressive programme of solo, trio and quintet pieces in an internal performance in the auditorium.
