Philipp Mohr began his musical education in 2014 at the Oberfranken Professional School of Music in Kronach, where he received a solid grounding in classical percussion until 2016. He then continued his studies at Nuremberg University of Music, studying in the class of Prof. Radoslaw Szarek from 2016 to 2020. He completed both the Bachelor's and Master's programmes there, developing his profile as a versatile percussionist in the process.
His orchestral career began at the Nuremberg State Theatre Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was an academy member from 2021 to 2023. This was followed by a temporary contract with the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked as a percussionist from 2023 to 2025. He is also regularly in demand as a substitute in various professional orchestras in southern Germany and ensembles in the Nuremberg metropolitan region. Since 2020, he has also been a permanent member of the percussion duo „zweiPLUSeins”, specialising in innovative concert formats and chamber music for percussion.
Alongside his artistic pursuits, Philipp Mohr is also a dedicated music pedagogue. He has taught percussion at various music schools since 2017. In 2018, he led the Metrobeat ensemble, a project designed to promote young musicians from the Nuremberg region. Since April 2024, he has held a teaching position at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, where he teaches rhythm and classical percussion. He also works as a percussion teacher at the music school in Hemhofen.
Philipp Mohr has received several awards for his artistic and pedagogical achievements. These include a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in 2018, the Bayern Innovativ scholarship for aspiring artists in 2021, and the Music Pedagogy Prize from Nuremberg University of Music in 2022. In 2023, he was accepted onto the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now and Deutschlandstipendium scholarship programmes.
