Future skills, music and recognition of special achievements

The Nuremberg University of Music held a farewell ceremony for its 2024/25 academic year graduates. As well as musical performances, the ceremony focused on the themes of the future, responsibility, and collaborative learning.

In her speech, Prof. Dr Renate Reitinger, the University's Vice President, emphasised the importance of what she termed 'Future Skills': creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. According to Prof. Reitinger, these four Cs are 'more than just professional qualifications. They are the key to actively shaping social transformations and experiencing music as a social practice".

Considering the changing world of work and the influence of new technologies, she emphasised the importance of openness, flexibility and lifelong learning for future careers:

'Artificial intelligence will change tasks — it will be crucial to use it creatively, confidently, and with humanity at the core.'

Prof. Reitinger encouraged the alumni to follow their path with courage, curiosity and passion, and to utilise the unifying power of music in an increasingly complex world.

The ceremony featured musical performances by university graduates, including works by Gabriel Fauré, Jan Sandström, Edward Elgar and Herbert Pixner.

A special moment was the presentation of the Music Pedagogy Awards, which honour outstanding achievements in music pedagogy studies. The university would like to thank Mrs Susanne Patho, whose commitment over many years makes it possible to award these prizes every year, thereby sending out an important signal of recognition and support.
