News Ana Oboroc wins audition for Academy Position with the Nuremberg State Philharmonic

The violinist Ana Oboroc (class of Prof. Dr Reto Kuppel) has won the audition for the Orchestra Academy of the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra. Congratulations!

Ana Oboroc was born in 2001 in the Republic of Moldova. After completing her degree at the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Secondary School in Chișinău, where she studied under Cătălina Timofte and received private lessons from Alexandru Ureche, she went on to study at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Mi-Kyung Lee. She is currently studying in Prof. Dr Reto Kuppel's class at the Nuremberg University of Music.

She has also received valuable guidance in masterclasses with Ingolf Turban and Florin Paul, among others. She has gained orchestral experience through regular appearances as a substitute with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt. She was also a member of the youth orchestras of Romania and Moldova. She made her solo debut with the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Chișinău at the age of 16.

During her time at school and university, she was honoured several times at national and international competitions. These included first prizes at the "Nedyalka Semionova" international competition in Bulgaria, and at the national "Zlata Tkach" and "Ștefan Neaga" competitions in the Republic of Moldova. Her other accolades include second prizes at competitions in France (Nouvelles Etoiles), Romania (Paul Constantinescu) and Sweden (The North International Music Competition), a third prize at the Eugen Coca international competition in Moldova, and a special prize at the Triomphe de l'Art competition in Belgium.

In autumn 2024, she was awarded the DAAD Prize.
