Yudania Gómez Heredia hails from Villa Clara in Cuba. She began her musical education at the National School of Arts, studying vocal studies, music theory, choral conducting and composition. She then continued her studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, before moving to Germany in 2015. She studied church music in Regensburg, specialising in organ improvisation. She then went on to complete two Master's degrees in choral and orchestral conducting at the Nuremberg University of Music. Thanks to her multifaceted musical talent, Yudania is active not only as a conductor of various ensembles, but also as a composer and organist.
For the 2024/25 season, she has received a scholarship from the Bergische Symphoniker Orchestra Academy for young female conductors, and she is also participating in the young conductors' programme of the Chineke! Orchestra. In September 2025, she assisted Jonathon Heyward and the Chineke! Orchestra at the BBC Proms.
Her debut came in 2022 with the production Mid(Summer)night Dreams, a collaboration between the Nuremberg State Theatre and Nuremberg University of Music focusing on chamber operas by contemporary composers. Further engagements include Bovary at the Gostner Hoftheater in Nuremberg, and working as a musical assistant on Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges at the Stadttheater Fürth, directed by Guido Rumstadt. During the 2024/2025 season, she conducted Purcell's The Fairy Queen at the Stuttgart State Opera (JOiN), in a production by Olivia Hyunsin Kim.
Yudania has conducted various ensembles, including the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Ensemble Reflektor, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra, the Neustädter Kantorei Erlangen, the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, and symphonic wind orchestras in Valencia and São Paulo.
