Tingyi Yang was born in Shenyang, China. She learnt to play the violin at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music. While still at school, she played first violin in the Shenyang Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2020, she has been studying at the Nuremberg University of Music, where she completed her Bachelor's degree under Prof. Dr. Reto Kuppel. She has attended masterclasses with Florin Paul and Juan Salvador Raya, and was principal violinist of the NUM Nuremberg University Orchestra. She won a special prize and a gold medal at the "Best Classical Musician Awards" competition, as well as at the fourth "Universal Stars Music Competition" in the Strings and Virtuoso Artist categories. She is currently completing her Master's degree in Nuremberg.
In 2023, she was awarded a scholarship for international students at the Nuremberg University of Music.
In 2025, she is performing as a violinist with the Bavarian Orchestra Academy in the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra and, starting this autumn, as an academy member of the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra.
