Master's student Sheng-Fang Chiu (class of Prof. Daniel Gaede) has successfully passed his audition to become 1st concertmaster of the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Congratulation!

Sheng-Fang Chiu was born in Taiwan in 2001 and is currently studying for a Master's degree in Violin under Prof. Daniel Gaede at the Nuremberg University of Music. He completed his Bachelor's degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre (HfMT) in Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender's class from 2019 to 2023.

During his studies, he gained extensive orchestral experience: he was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and worked as a substitute with the Hamburg Camerata and the Nuremberg State Opera. While at the HfMT, he regularly participated in the baroque orchestra, organised a concert for the César Franck Days, and performed in chamber music projects with professors at venues such as the Barlach House and Harburg Town Hall.

In the summer of 2023, Sheng-Fang Chiu won a competition that will enable him to perform a solo recital in Taiwan in August 2024. Since September 2023, he has been an academy member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and has also held a temporary position as a second violinist there since 2025.
