The percussion class at Nuremberg University of Music, led by Professor Radoslaw Szarek, joined forces with the Metro-Beat Ensemble, conducted by Werner Treiber and Ben Hartmann, to present a varied programme showcasing the many facets of percussion artistry.
The programme alternated between high-energy, rhythmically precise pieces and quieter moments full of subtle tonal nuances. The spectrum ranged from powerful grooves to almost meditative passages. It was precisely these contrasts that created a sense of excitement and held the audience’s attention throughout the concert.
From the outset, it was clear that the audience was in for something special: musicians played from open windows on different floors of the inner courtyard, creating an impressive spatial sound effect that instantly captivated the audience.
The finale was particularly moving, with students from the university performing alongside young people from the Metro-Beat Ensemble. This interplay between different generations demonstrated impressively how music can bring people together and create shared experiences.
The audience thanked the performers with prolonged applause and a standing ovation. Above all, it was a successful concert evening that will be remembered for it
