News Personnel Philipp Brämswig becomes professor of Jazz Guitar

Guitarist Philipp Brämswig, who was born in Cologne, is in demand on the national jazz scene. In 2017, he reached the final of the 'New German Jazz Prize' in Mannheim with his trio. Since 2013, he has taught Pop Guitar at Osnabrück University of Music, and since 1 October 2022, he has taught Jazz Guitar at Nuremberg University of Music, as a professor. Congratulations to him!

What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

I'm looking forward to working with the wonderful teaching and administrative staff, and to being able to provide advice and support to a wide range of young artistic personalities on their journey towards professionalism.

What is your impression of the Nuremberg University of Music?

I personally identify with Nuremberg University of Music's mission statement, as it reflects a contemporary humanistic view of humanity. The creation of a positive learning atmosphere and the promotion of artistic excellence are both prioritised. Additionally, the course is well set for the future with many young, committed teachers.

What are your goals and visions for your professorship?

I intend to leverage my extensive musical expertise to provide the jazz guitar class and the wider jazz department with the best possible education. I also aim to support the careers of future generations of musicians, foster and expand collaborations, and contribute to the university's ongoing development.
