Paul Bießmann studied jazz piano in Nuremberg and media technology in Ilmenau. As a musician and digital artist, he explores the intersection of music, people and technology, as well as the points of friction between them. His audiovisual works often incorporate interaction and generative techniques. For instance, audience members can become part of a sound installation based on their position in the space, electronic textiles can interpret movements, and smartphones can be transformed into a multi-screen swarm synthesiser.
In 2022, he participated in the Fraunhofer Network's Artist in Lab programme, where he converted ECG signals from trees into a 3D sound and video installation. He has realised interdisciplinary projects for the Centre for Creative Industries (CCI) Fabrika in Moscow, the ID Festival, the Neuköllner Oper and the Einstein Centre Digital Future, among others.
He is also a founding member of the HIDALGO collective, an interdisciplinary group of artists dedicated to creating innovative concert formats.
