News Success Otto Itgenshorst Appointed Principal Répétiteur in Wiesbaden

Otto Itgenshorst is a conductor, pianist and lied accompanist. He completed his first degree at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, graduating with a Bachelor of Music after studying piano with Dr Barbara Payne and conducting with Christopher Gray. From 2020, he studied at the Nuremberg University of Music (NUM), initially studying orchestral conducting with Prof. Guido Rumstadt and subsequently accompaniment with Holger Berndsen. He also received valuable guidance in Lied interpretation from Prof. Marcelo Amaral.

His first engagements took him, amongst other places, to the Nuremberg State Theatre (Accompaniment) and the Nuremberg Gluck Festival (Accompaniment and conductor of stage music). In July 2024, he stepped in at short notice to take charge of the revival of Emmerich Kálmán’s *Countess Mariza* at the Rüdersdorf Operetta Summer. 
In August 2024, he accompanied the Musiciens du Louvre as musical assistant on tour in Vietnam. 
Together with his lieder duo partner Miriam Fußeder, he reached the semi-finals of the Schubert Competition for Lieder Duos in Dortmund as the youngest duo to do so.

During the 2024/25 and 2026/27 seasons, he was a répétiteur at the Opera Studio at the Nuremberg State Theatre and studied for a Master’s degree in International Opera Studio at the NUM, with Accompaniment as his main subject. At the Nuremberg State Theatre, his roles included musical director of the children’s operas *Armide oder Schwein gehabt!* and *Ritter Eisenfraß*.
