News Success Nominations for the German Jazz Award 2024

The Nuremberg University of Music is delighted to announce that two of its current teachers and former students have been nominated for this year's German Jazz Award. Congratulations to all!

Over the past few weeks, the international jury of experts has sifted through an incredible 1,150 submissions, and now the 72 nominees for the German Jazz Award 2024 have been selected for their outstanding artistic and innovative achievements over the past year.

The next step will be for the main jury to decide who will receive one of the 22 German Jazz Awards at the awards ceremony on 18 April 2024 at the E-Werk in Cologne. The jury members will be announced at the end of February.

For the first time this year, there will be an exclusive opportunity to attend the German Jazz Award ceremony live. Limited tickets are available on the Jazz Award website.

The nominees are:

  • Moritz Baumgärtner, Professor for Jazz Drums at the Nuremberg University of Music, in the Percussion category
  • Andreas Dombert, lecturer in Jazz Guitar, with his trio OpenTheBox in the Ensemble of the Year category
  • Kira Linn, alumna of the jazz saxophone class, with her composition "Women To Sky" in the category Composition/Arrangement of the Year
  • and the NUEJAZZ Festival, which was founded by our alumni Frank Wuppinger and Marco Kühnl and with which we regularly collaborate, in the category Festival of the Year

We keep our fingers crossed for everyone and look forward to the award ceremony!
