News Success Nanaho Torosu Joins WDR Symphony Orchestra on a Fixed-Term Contract

Nanaho Torosu (class of Prof. Daniel Gaede) has won the audition for a fixed-term contract with the WDR Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations!

Nanaho Torosu was born in Osaka, Japan, in 2001. She began taking violin lessons at the age of three, following the Suzuki Method. In 2017, she enrolled at Kyoto Municipal Kyoto Horikawa Senior High School of Music, where she continued her violin studies with Shoko Ikegawa.

She began her Bachelor's degree at Kyoto City University of Arts in 2019 under Prof. Kyoko Shikata, graduating top of her year in 2023. She has been studying for a Master's degree under Prof. Daniel Gaede at Nuremberg University of Music since 2024.

In 2021, she won second prize at the Osaka International Music Competition and third prize at the Japan Players Competition. She has also won multiple prizes at national competitions in Japan.

As a soloist, she has performed with the Kyoto City University of Arts Orchestra. She gained orchestral experience at the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra Academy in 2024 and as a temporary member of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra and the City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra from 2023 to 2024.

In 2025, she became an Academy member with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie in Saarbrücken.
