Jun Li is currently studying for a Master's degree in Viola Performance at the University of Music in Nuremberg under Prof. Wilfried Strehle. Previously, he studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Julia Rebekka Adler.
As well as his two main tutors, Jun Li has received significant artistic inspiration from Hartmut Rohde, Andreas Willwohl and Ulrich Knözer, and through playing chamber music with the Artemis Quartet.
Alongside his studies, he is currently working as the principal violist in performances at Theater Nordhausen.
His previous engagements include the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. He also served as principal violist with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
As part of the Rotary Viola Scholarship, he continued to develop his artistry in a focused manner. He recently won the audition for the permanent position of principal violist with the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has also reached the final rounds of several major orchestral auditions on multiple occasions, making a lasting impression with his musical presence and expressiveness.
These successes have led to numerous invitations to perform as a temporary musician, as well as to fill solo and deputy solo positions in renowned orchestras. Jun Li is a regular member of the temporary musicians' pool at both the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Komische Oper Berlin. He is also expected to receive an invitation to join the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as substitute principal violist.
He is a prize-winner of the Nuremberg Viola Master Class internal competition (2025) and a DAAD scholarship holder.
