News University Conducting Class from Salzburg visits Nuremberg

At the end of the semester, the conducting class of Prof. Guido J. Rumstadt welcomed three students from the Mozarteum University Salzburg as part of an Erasmus exchange programme. The students were accompanied by their lecturer, Dr Alexander Drčar, Artistic Director of the Mozarteum University Salzburg Academy Orchestra.

Alongside rehearsals of Mozart’s The Magic Flute with singers and orchestra and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll with orchestra, the programme featured visits to the Nuremberg State Theatre for a performance of Alban Berg’s Lulu and to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. There, Dr Frank Bär, Head of the Music Collection, offered the students a rare opportunity to view the original manuscript of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg as part of the museum’s collaboration with the Nuremberg University of Music. The score had not been opened for more than a decade.
