News Success Bastian Fuchs Appointed Cathedral Organist in Speyer

Following a rigorous, multi-stage selection process, the cathedral chapter has appointed church musician Bastian Fuchs as Cathedral Organist at Speyer Cathedral. He will play a central role in shaping both the liturgical music and the concert life of the cathedral. Congratulations to our alumnus!

Born in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz in 1994, Bastian Fuchs has received extensive training in church music and has gained a wide range of experience in the field. He dedicated himself to the organ from an early age and, after studying Catholic church music at the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Pedagogy in Regensburg, embarked on a career as a church musician. He furthered his studies with Master's degrees in organ and organ improvisation at the Nuremberg University of Music, graduating with top marks.

His professional career has taken Bastian Fuchs to the cathedrals in Passau and Eichstätt, where he worked as an assistant to the cathedral conductor and occasionally took responsibility for the entire cathedral music programme. Since 2020, he has worked as a full-time church musician at Mariahilf Church in Munich, also assisting Munich Cathedral Music.

Bastian Fuchs combines artistic quality with pedagogical expertise, drawing on his broad experience in liturgy, concert organisation, choral conducting, and training young church musicians. He pays particular attention to the organ as a liturgical and concert instrument, seeing it
