News Success Andreas Feith receives Award for Cultural Sponsorship of the District of Middle Franconia

On 29 October, the jazz pianist, lecturer and head of the Jazz Department, Andreas Feith, was awarded the Award for Cultural Sponsorship of the District of Middle Franconia in the town hall of Wolframs-Eschenbach. Congratulations!

Born in 1987, Andreas Feith grew up in a musical family and began taking classical piano lessons with Prof. Erich Appel at a young age. In 2008, he started studying jazz piano at Würzburg University of Music, specialising in the subject under the guidance of Bernhard Pichl, Tine Schneider and Chris Beier. He then completed a Master of Music programme at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Hubert Nuss and Hendrik Soll in 2014, graduating with top marks. He also received lessons from Don Friedman, David Hazeltine and John Taylor, among others.

As well as performing with his Surviving Flower Quartet and Duo Feith-Harm, Andreas Feith plays with various other bands, including the Klaus Graf New Quartet, the Christoph Beck Quartet and the Rebecca Trescher Tentet. In recent years, he has performed and toured throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Hungary and Kyrgyzstan, collaborating with musicians such as Scott Robinson, Adrian Mears, Don Braden, Martin Wind, Lutz Häfner, Steffen Schorn and Charly Antolini. With his quartet, he was selected as a finalist for the 2020 New German Jazz Award, appearing on over a dozen albums.
